We run two programmes for preschoolers:

4  y r  o l d  C l a s s - This programme is more structured and is designed to help the children prepare for kindergarten. It includes arts and crafts, fine motor and cognitive activities (ABCs, 123s, puzzles), gross motor skill development, theme projects, science, a “book buddy” program and daily outdoor play. Group activities include stories, poems, games, show and tell, structured outdoor games and hikes.

How To Become a Shining Star:

Kids' involvement: At Peggy Brewin we help inspire the creative minds of children through arts, crafts, songs, stories, free play and outdoor action. Our goal is to provide a safe, fun and enriching atmosphere where children will evolve socially, emotionally, physically and creatively at their own pace, and will learn to play cooperatively and to share with others. The resulting love of learning will not only prepare them for elementary school but will inspire them to blossom to their full potential.

Parents' involvement:  As a cooperative preschool, Peggy Brewin offers parents the chance to play an extremely rewarding and active role in their children's education. At the same time, because we are a co-op the range of a parent's involvement can be flexible depending on work schedules and family commitments.  Our community strives to make co-op participation fun and enriching and frequently through the experience lifelong friendships are formed.  Parents take turns helping out in the classroom on "duty days" and in this way are able to participate in their child's first school experience. All the parents are encouraged to get involved with the running of the school, to express ideas they might have for its improvement, and to share any special talents they might like to contribute.

Executive team: If a parent has the time and drive to commit to greater involvement in the school, they might find a fulfilling role on our Parent Executive Committee. The executive changes every year and as a result the roles of Vice-president, Treasurer, Registrar, and Communications/Publicity officer become available. Parents can volunteer for an executive role and enjoy the opportunity to participate more fully in the cooperative environment and the running of the school.  Our school is well and truly run by it's parents!

Excellence in Teaching

Deb's first priority is the emotional and physical well-being of the children in her care. She is truly a companion and guide who fosters and promotes a sense of wonder and creativity in all children: she is a gifted teacher and we are extremely fortunate to have her.

Along with her passion for Peggy Brewin Preschool, Deb is dedicated to her family and to living a healthy lifestyle.  She loves reading, hiking, and the outdoors.  With her husband of 30 years she has raised 3 children who themselves attended Peggy Brewin and who are currently completing their university degrees.
